Superintendents must have the ability to run jobs, small and large, read blueprints, order materials, motivate crews, conduct general meetings and safety meetings, train new employees, and follow/uphold company safety rules. Duties include consulting with PM and subcontractors on design issues and/or change directives. Superintendents are responsible for conducting weekly safety meetings and the implementation of company safety policies.
Superintendents are responsible for management of the job site. Management responsibilities include keeping abreast of crew and employee challenges and successes, ensuring job site efficiency while mandating safety, and upholding employee morale. Superintendents are also responsible for enforcing scheduled hours of work for their crew.
The Superintendent position is a blended role. This position is a “bags on” field leadership position. The Superintendent must be a Journeyman Carpenter; therefore, following the required skills and abilities of a Journeyman Carpenter and the below requirements of the leadership role.
